Spooky Fun Awaits at Your Library This October!

Stop by your friendly neighborhood public library this October for tons of fun for all ages! We’ve brewed up some exciting programs, from meeting a stormtrooper to stuffed animal sleepovers to reading ghost stories. Goleta Valley Library

Spooky TeenTober Craft, Friday, October 7th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
We are hosting a Halloween craft workshop for teens! Sign up at the front desk for this whimsical, spooky flower-making class. We will supply all you need to make and take home your holiday decoration.  Space is limited.

Star Wars Jedi Party, Saturday, October 15th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Goleta Valley Library is celebrating Star Wars Reads Month! Join us for a special meet-and-greet with stormtroopers from the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion on October 15th at the library! Plus, young padawans can make their own lightsabers at our Jedi craft tables and complete a scavenger hunt to win a prize. Plus, stop by the library all month long to check out Star Wars themed books for all ages from our displays.

Trick-or-Treat at the Library! Tuesday, October 25th – Sunday, October 30th
Stop by the library during open hours to pick up a candy treat and a free copy of the classic spooky story Go Away, Big Green Monster! by Ed Emberley, while supplies last. Costumes encouraged! Book distribution generously sponsored by the Friends of the Goleta Valley Library. 

Stuffed Animal Sleepover: Hogwarts Edition, Drop-off Friday, October 28th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Pick-up Saturday, October 29th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Stuffed Animal Sleepover is back and more magical than ever, just in time for Halloween! Drop off your favorite stuffed toy to be sorted into a Hogwarts House and go on lots of wizarding adventures! When you pick them up on Sunday, you will receive photos of their magical weekend and a bag of enchanting goodies.

Buellton Library

Halloween Scavenger Hunt in the Buellton Library! All month
Stop by the front desk of the Buellton Library during October and ask to participate in the Spooktacular scavenger hunt! Win a special prize by finding all three spooky creatures hidden around the library. Read the clues on the map and keep an eye out for monsters in the library!

Stuffed Animal Spooky Sleepover, Wednesday, October 26th from 4:00 – 4:30 p.m.
Come by the library for a Halloween storytime and leave your stuffed animal with the library staff for the evening for a spooky sleepover!  See what happens when the library closes this time of year and how your stuffed animal comes alive at night! Get a goodie bag filled with surprises on the following Friday 10/28 or Saturday 10/29 when you retrieve your beloved stuffed animal!  Great for all ages and families are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costume. See you there…if you dare!

Solvang Library

Solvang Library’s Online Book Club for Kids, Wednesdays October 12th and 26th at 4:30 p.m. (NEW TIME!)
For readers 8-11 years old. Register here to receive the link for the online meetings – the first 10 readers to register will receive a free copy of the book!!  The October book is Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier. In this story, Catrina and her family are moving because her little sister, Maya, is sick. As the girls explore their new home, a neighbor lets them in on a secret: There are ghosts in Bahía de la Luna! This is a moving and insightful graphic novel about the power of family and friendship. 3-D Paper Pumpkin Craft Kit Giveaway, All month
Get ready for the spooky season (or the harvest season) with this paper pumpkin that uses both colored paper and sheets from old books and magazines.  Pick up a free kit in the Solvang Library hallway starting October 1st. For all ages.
