The City’s New Zoning Ordinance (NZO) is at the finish line. After years of hard work and community input, it will return to City Council for adoption consideration at the February 18, 2020, public hearing. Once adopted, this will be a milestone for Goleta. The NZO will replace the City’s existing zoning regulations, which were inherited from the County at the time of incorporation, in their entirety. The proposed NZO provides rules and regulations for land use and development on private property within the city. The purpose of the New Zoning Ordinance is to implement the General Plan and to protect and promote the public health, safety, peace, comfort, convenience, prosperity, and general welfare. More information about the project can be found at www.GoletaZoning.com.
