Venoco Ellwood Onshore Facility Update

On September 20, the City Council will receive a presentation on the status of Venoco’s Ellwood Onshore Facility (EOF) including the pending bankruptcy proceedings and how that affects what the City can do with the EOF. There continues to be public interest in the future of the EOF located in Goleta. The facility processes gas and oil produced at Platform Holly. Due to the 2015 Plains pipeline rupture, the facility is not operating currently and won’t until the pipeline is repaired and certified for operation.

Venoco remains under the protection of the Federal Bankruptcy Court.  While that case is pending, the City cannot act to unilaterally terminate the EOF use.

The agenda for the September 20th meeting will be posted by 5 p.m. on September 15 and can be found here: http://www.cityofgoleta.org/i-want-to/news-and-updates/government-meeting-agendas-and-videos.
