Did you feel the earthquakes that struck eight miles west of Isla Vista the evening of May 16? Every time there is the possibility of a disaster, you probably remind yourself that you need to be better prepared. This summer the City of Goleta is providing you the opportunity to do so. Join us for our free eight week Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training June 21 – August 9 (Spanish) or June 22 – August 10 (English) from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Goleta City Hall Council Chambers (130 Cremona Drive, Suite B). Participants must attend all classes. The CERT program is designed to help communities prepare for effective disaster response through training and planning. With training and information, individual and community groups can be prepared to serve as a crucial resource capable of performing many of the emergency functions needed in the immediate post-disaster period.
